Fatherhood: Feeding on Pregnancy

Fatherhood: Feeding on Pregnancy

Once the issue of pregnancy becomes a reality, and until the first consultation, it is very important to control well the foods and meals the pregnant woman eats.

In addition to foods that the pregnant woman should not eat, and others that can cause nausea, there are others that you can only eat after being assured that you are in really good condition or disinfected.

A Family Planning Association indicates some foods that the pregnant woman should or should not eat.

Recommended Foods During Pregnancy

  • eggs, meat, fish (protein suppliers);
  • milk, yogurt, cheese and butter (calcium suppliers);
  • peas, beans, beans (also suppliers of vegetable proteins indispensable to the fetus);
  • fruit and vegetables at every meal (suppliers of vitamins and minerals);
  • and of course water!

Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

  • sweets and cakes;
  • coffee, tea, alcohol and carbonated drinks;
  • shellfish (salmonella risk);
  • rare meat (risk of toxoplasmosis);
  • fresh unpasteurised cheese (risk of brucellosis).

Disinfect Salads or Fruits

Salads and fruits become a “forbidden fruit” outside the home. All salad ingredients should be thoroughly washed under running water, and soaked in a vinegar (or Amokina).

Rule Exception

Obviously every pregnancy is unique. And as such it is up to the pregnant woman to decide what she prefers, or can, eat. We cannot be extreme in limitation, but we must not neglect care with the quality of food.
