In an era where entrepreneurship and fashion are umbilically linked, I went to talk to Khepry®, a new brand of 100% Portuguese luxury footwear (concept, design, production, and shipping) that entered this month at Indiegogo.
I went to talk to Miguel, to try to understand after all what brand is this, what kind of shoes will produce and to whom they will sell.
What is the origin of the name KHEPRY®?
Khepry® arose from my taste for ancient Egypt, meaning the name of the god Khepri, Scarab God.
With so much supply from chains at low cost, what does the brand bring again?
Khepry® is a brand with a different design, trying to bridge the gap between classic and sport. And of course using the best materials on the market, always taking into account the environmental and technological component.
What materials are used and why?
We use genuine fur, because its transformation process is more environmentally friendly than synthetic fur (contrary to popular belief). The lining is made up of absorbent microfibres, this allows this material to absorb the perspiration of the foot.
Is the manufacture 100% English?
Yes, all shoes are made in Portugal by skilled artisans and without the use of cheap labor. So we make a rigorous assessment of the place and its working method.
What business model do you bet for this brand?
We prefer the international market, because I want to make known to the world what Portugal knows how to do best.
Who is behind the brand and what are their roles?
This project was born from my dream of wanting to have a brand and wanting to launch a different shoe on the market. Halfway along I had the need for help, as I was getting exhausted and development was stagnating, so I asked for help from a friend, Mariana, with whom I had taken the shoe design course, later I also turned to her. help from another friend of mine, Ana, to guide the brand in all digital advertising and marketing. So now we are 3 in this project.

Has the search for investment in digital platforms always been an option, or have they even tried funding in some other way?
It has always been the only option. All the development was done thanks to my savings, but for the first production, I always had in mind a crowdfownding campaign.
What type of consumer is the target of your shoes?
The brand is oriented towards the upper / upper middle class consumer, because the brand when it is in full development will have premium products, where we will have shoes with silver pieces, wooden boxes lined with velvet or jewelry boxes and I am developing a perfume that will be present in all boxes.
